We’re delighted to announce that the team in Cameroon officially handed over the keys to our medical centre and training workshop in Bambouti to CMFI (Christian Missionary Fellowship International) in July. CMFI are currently developing a vast site in Bertoua, East Cameroon, which includes a health centre, bilingual primary school and a 3500-capacity church.
The team at CMFI have extensive experience from various projects they have led across the globe, making them an excellent organisation for Cameroon Catalyst to collaborate with. CMFI are well-suited to lead the management of our health centre and training workshop to continue to improve the impact they have on the communities within Bambouti and the surrounding villages.
The handover ceremony, attended by our team, eight senior members of CMFI and numerous villagers included:
- A welcome speech from our former intern in Cameroon, Ant
- Introductions of various key members of the Bambouti community from health centre nurse Vanessa and of the staff present from CMFI by CMFI President Madame Tawet
- An explanation of CMFI’s short and long-term plans at the health centre by Madame Tawet and one of CMFI’s doctors
- A tour of the health centre and training workshop.
All talks were translated from French to the local language Baya by our local representative Virginie.
We look forward to working with CMFI over the coming years and to seeing their exciting new plans and ideas come to fruition!
